Creating Space and Inspiring Success: VDURA’s Coffee Chats with Women in Leadership

At VDURA, we recognize that fostering an inclusive, supportive workplace culture is essential to empowering women at all stages of their careers. Our “coffee chat” sessions are a cornerstone of this mission, providing a comfortable environment for women to connect, share successes, seek advice, and discuss aspirations. These gatherings bring together colleagues from across the organization to discuss topics that matter most to them, celebrate each other’s achievements, and offer support and mentorship. 

Recently, we had the privilege of welcoming our CEO, Ken, to one of these meetings. His participation was a powerful reminder of VDURA’s commitment to supporting women’s professional growth and personal development. In his discussion, Ken shared insights from his own journey, particularly how his entrepreneurial foundation was rooted in early experiences with his mother, who played a formative role in his career. “I would put down 80 plus percent of my success to her…she was the original maverick” he shared. Teaching him the value of hard work, creativity, independence, and confidence, she instilled in Ken the values that would shape his approach to leadership and mentorship. These values have influenced how he encourages and supports women at VDURA, demonstrating his genuine commitment to the success of every team member. Ken’s approach is also refreshingly off-the-wall, encouraging everyone to stay grounded and “not take yourself too seriously.” This fun and genuine attitude is something everyone will get to see firsthand at SC, where his energy and humor will no doubt be on full display. 

Ken also reflected on the lessons he now shares with his own daughter, emphasizing resilience, perseverance, and a positive outlook regardless of circumstances. “Perseverance is probably the most underrated attribute…,” he noted, illustrating this with the story of his daughter’s soccer season, where her team ended with a tough record of 0-3-10. Yet, even when they faced challenging odds, his daughter’s team continued to play with the same energy, passion, and determination as if they were leading. “Those little girls…just keep on plugging away, kept supporting each other and played with heart,” he added, underscoring how tenacity and grit define not only personal success but also professional growth as team. To Ken, this unwavering resilience serves as a life lesson: no matter the obstacles, you show up, give your best, support each other and enjoy the journey. 

These personal insights resonated with everyone present and underscored the values that make VDURA a unique place to work. By joining in these coffee chats, Ken reminded us that leadership at VDURA is not only about driving success but about nurturing growth and inspiring resilience in others. His open, supportive approach reflects the culture we aim to cultivate within our company—one that values both personal growth and professional achievement.
